A jury began deliberating Monday in the manslaughter trial of Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the teenager who killed four people at a Michigan high school in 2021, in a novel legal case that stands as a test of the limits of who's responsible for a mass shooting. Crumbley, 45, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of involuntary manslaughter for her role in the November 30, 2021, mass shooting at Oxford High School, which left four students dead and seven others wounded. The jury of 12, made up of six men and six women, must be unanimous to reach a verdict. Five alternates will remain sequestered in a separate room from the main panel for the duration of deliberations. |
